Streynsham's Trust

Streynsham’s Trust

Streynsham’s Trust is a registered charity that gives financial assistance, in the form of grants, to people in need, who live in the Ecclesiastical Parish of St Dunstan’s, Canterbury. The Trust was founded in 1584 by a Faversham merchant, Thomas Streynsham, and has been helping St Dunstan’s Parish residents ever since.

Grant Awards

The Trust awards grants to individual St Dunstan’s Parish residents, and also to organisations whose work benefits those living in the Parish. The Trust awards around 180 grants a year, generally ranging between £50 and £1000, and, other than eligible address and financial need, there are very few restrictions on the nature of requests able to be considered.

Trust Members

There are 13 trustees, representing a range of interests, and all have some kind of local connection and knowledge. They meet every three months to consider grant applications.

Streynsham’s Trust owns 6 properties and has a number of stock market investments; and the rental and dividend incomes provide the funds to operate the charity and award grants.
